The collection of map data involves operating vehicles equipped with a sensor mounted on the roof. This sensor will scan and collect data of the road network and route you are following. Upon completion of collecting data each day, you will transfer the data to an online platform. This data will lead to developing the next generation of digital maps to power mobile applications. Operators will be responsible for equipment preparation, data collection and simple data processing, and overall equipment management in the field before, during and after data collection, including installation of hardware per the client's guidelines.As part of this project we are seeking people to operate and navigate the vehicles around the areas to be mapped inBilbao,Spain. We are looking for Vehicle Mapping Operators (navigation AND the operation of the technical equipment) who are enthusiastic, friendly and safe. You will be working as part of a larger team so being personable is required. You should be comfortable working for long periods ( approximately 8-10 hours per day ) and have experience in operating/navigating in all situations: i.E. cities, freeways, suburban and rural. You should have a working knowledge of GPS and navigation applications.Only applicants that have been selected for an interview will be contacted. We have a minimal number of positions that are currently needed. There are no internship positions available. Relocation is not offered.Mapping Operator Responsibilities:Operator must live in mapping areaOperate mapping vehicles with care and attention, abiding by all traffic and highway rules.Use of navigation software and other applications as instructed to follow routes.Work effectively as part of a larger mapping team.Follow the rules and work missions as requested by the Project Manager.Evening and weekend collection may be necessary at timesComplete daily checks on the vehicle and equipment and notify manager of any issues.Operate carefully especially with the regards to the equipment on the vehicle, such as knowledge of the height of the vehicle with the equipment, being mindful of low- hanging objects such as trees.Protect the equipment and vehicle by always parking the vehicle securely.Follow security protocols and instructions from managers.Maintain confidentiality of the project and the data collected.Maintain required logs as set forth by the Project Manager.Operate and monitor the sensor equipment on a daily basis in the mapping vehicle.Use navigation software and other applications as instructed to follow routes.Consideration to the equipment and functionality of it is mandatory.Troubleshoot equipment issues.Be a citizen, Legal Residence Card, or a Working Visa (no Student Visas accepted) and authorized to work in the posted country.A valid operator's license to operate in any valid state.Ability to manage time effectively.Ability to work well in a team.Ability to listen to managers and complete tasks efficiently.Basic Technical Familiarity with maps, phones and tablet computers.Be able to logically follow technical instructions.Good understanding of the posted country's road network.Be a good communicator and be able to complete reports for managers.Strength to lift up to 50lbs, plus bending and twisting.Honest, open and transparent communication.Be a legal citizen, Legal Residence Card, or a Working Visa with no restrictions (no Student Visas accepted).Requirements:Have some level of expertise and aptitude in motor vehicle mechanicsHave at least four (4) years of driving experience, as well as experience driving for long periods of timePrefer to be 25 years of age, but will consider appropriate experienceHave the capability to understand physical security protocolsHave the ability to follow instructions and know when to run program issues up a chain of command rather than attempting to resolve issues independentlyHave experience with iOS devices, and should be technically savvyBe able to work long hours in stressful environmentsHave a valid driver’s license and are permitted to drive in the posted countryClear driving recordAbility to pass a 5 or 7 Panel Drug ScreenDue to sensitivity of equipment and project, you must consent to random drug screening throughout entire projectPass a Background checkMUST be able to speak fluent English.Desired Skills:General car knowledgeAbility to climb on small step ladder to access roof mounted cameraKnowledge of smart phone and its useUnderstand basic computer skills and write legible emailsReliable, dependable and creativeTimeline:Tentative training start of March 17th, project start of March 24th, 2025.
