About the roleThe role of Sustainability Data Engineer is pivotal in advancing Straumann’s sustainability ambitions by integrating sustainability-related data from diverse sources into our hyperscaling lakehouse infrastructure. Positioned within the business domain as part of the Group Sustainability team, the role focuses on driving data integration efforts that support Straumann’s sustainability strategy and reporting across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics.The Sustainability Data Engineer will collaborate closely with enterprise data architects, application developers, data owners, and other key business stakeholders to ensure seamless and efficient incorporation of sustainability data. By combining technical expertise with a strong understanding of sustainability-related metrics, the role will play a key part in enabling data-driven decision-making across Straumann’s business.Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesIntegrating sustainability data from various source systems into the cloud-based data lakehouseEngineering of related ETL processes and pipelines according to business needs in terms of structure, timeliness, etc.Aligning with Global Data Architecture on integration strategies and data architecture principlesCreating sustainability data models in line with the overall data architectureParticipating in data product delivery from planning through development to delivery and supportCreating logging and monitoring services, implementation of quality metrics, etc. to ensure high performance and reliability.Implementing innovative technologies to scale Straumann's sustainability data infrastructure for growing ESG reporting needsCollaborating with external auditors and third-party assurance providersSupporting the automation of sustainability reporting processesRequirementsEducationUniversity degree in computer science or related domainFurther education in sustainability data managementExperience5+ years of total working experience3+ years of hands-on experience in sustainability and data engineering in a cloud environmentExperience with sustainability reporting standards and metrics (e.G.
